Abstract

This study aims to enhance awareness and transform the behavior of fifth-grade students at MIS Tuhfatul Athfal Sungai Raya through the implementation of Islamic storytelling methods. The background of this research is based on the phenomenon of declining morals among early childhood due to the influence of globalization and the lack of effective approaches in moral education. The method employed is Classroom Action Research (CAR), based on the model of Kemmis and McTaggart, using three cycles (planning, implementation, observation, and reflection) with 22 student participants. Data collection techniques include participatory observation, group discussions, and documentation. The results show significant improvements in each cycle: (1) Cycle I, students began showing interest in Islamic stories but remained passive in discussions; (2) Cycle II, students became more active in discussions and better understood moral values; (3) Cycle III, students were able to identify and confidently practice proper etiquette and morals in their daily routines. Descriptive qualitative data analysis revealed that the Islamic storytelling method effectively enhanced both cognitive understanding (values of honesty, responsibility) and affective attitudes (politeness, cooperation) among students. This success was supported by the use of visual media, structured discussions, and reflective applications. The conclusion of this research is that the Islamic storytelling method can serve as an innovative solution to develop Islamic character in students in an enjoyable and meaningful way. The implication is that teachers should integrate this method into moral education with a contextual approach.
